Strengthening Families through Financial Literacy

“empowered families are the foundation of lasting child protection and care reform.”

As part of our Q3 (2025) activity, we successfully held a Parental Talk Session at OCV, bringing together 20 parents/ guardians and 3 staff facilitators. The session focused on economic empowerment through savings and financial management, equipping families with tools such as the 50-30-20 budgeting rule, small-scale investment ideas, and practical approaches to building financial resilience.

Parents engaged actively in Q&A sessions, expressing deep appreciation for the training and its relevance to their daily lives. Notably, they also voiced interest in launching a group poultry farming project, highlighting both their readiness for collective income-generating activities and their commitment to reducing household vulnerability.

Key recommendations from the session included exploring the feasibility of the poultry project, providing follow-up training on cooperative and agribusiness management, and maintaining quarterly financial literacy sessions to build sustainable practices. The event not only strengthened financial literacy but also reinforced our belief that empowered families are the foundation of lasting child protection and care reform.
